The UCA Jazz Program is one of the strongest in the region.  It offers students the opportunity to experience the diversity of jazz styles and literature with numerous performing opportunities.

Jazz I

Jazz I is the top jazz ensemble at UCA. The group performs several concerts per semester. In addition to regular appearances at Little Rock’s trendy venue “South on Main,” Jazz I performs at various jazz festivals locally and nationally.
Jazz II, the second jazz ensemble at UCA, focuses on the standard literature of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. The development of different jazz styles as well as improvisation is the primary focus of this ensemble. This group shares concerts with Jazz Ensemble I.

The Top Hatters

The Top Hatters is a popular group at UCA, and performs in the traditional New Orleans style with banjo, tuba, drums, piano, sax, trumpet, trombone, and clarinet.
